A former RAF serviceman who, along with colleagues, smuggled at least 6 million cigarettes into the UK on military flights was sentenced today to 12 months, suspended for two years, following a joint investigation by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and the Royal Air Force (RAF) Special Investigations Branch (SIB). He must also carry out 250 hours of unpaid work and adhere to a curfew between 9pm and 6am for three months.
