This consultation started on 21st November 2009 and ends on 15th February 2010.
This consultation looks at how we should regulate imports of oxycodone, a narcotic drug controlled under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971. In particular, it looks at whether imports should be allowed from outside the European Economic Area (EEA), and whether they should be allowed for re-export. The consultation paper also includes matters related to oxycodone import policy: the availability of diamorphine, a clinically vital analgesic for the NHS, and competition issues in the UK pharmaceutical industry.
A consultation stage impact assessment is included as an annex to the consultation document.
We would like your views on oxycodone import policy, and any relevant data you would like to submit for inclusion in later, more detailed versions of the impact assessment.
