I have also discussed with the French, German and Belgian Foreign Ministers and Javier Solana, European support for the political process and the UN's Peacekeeping Force. Meanwhile, Mark Malloch Brown offered President Kabila of the Democratic Republic of Congo British support for the political process. He spoke to the Rwandan President this evening. The UK continues to be very concerned at the impact recent fighting has had on the already dire humanitarian situation in the region. While we welcome the ceasefire declared last night, there is an urgent need to restore long term stability."
