Participation Inquiry: Strengthening the Role of Local Councillors - Launch Event

The Commission for Rural Communities will be launching the findings and recommendations from the Participation Inquiry: Strengthening the Role of Local Councillors. The launch will take place on Thursday 31 January 2008, 11.00am – 3.30pm, with linked events at Church House , Dean’s Yard, Westminster, London and at The Alnwick Gardens in Alnwick , Northumberland.

The Inquiry, has gathered evidence from local councillors (in all tiers), formal local partnerships, community groups, local authority officers and a range of international, national and regional government representatives.  Using this evidence the CRC has produced a set of recommendations which we believe will continue to support government efforts to strengthen the roles of local councillors and their communities to have greater influence over local decision-making.

Delegates will be invited to join some chaired discussion and question the Inquiry Panel and a range of local government experts.  We hope this conference will be the start of some interesting, challenging and fruitful discussions!

If you like to attend please forward your details to Sarah Kavanagh.
