This is the trial of a preliminary issue pursuant to the Order of Mr Justice Mann of 11 August 2006 whereby he ordered that the intellectual property issues in this action be determined as a preliminary issue. The action arises out of a dispute concerning the ownership of rights in the trade mark WORLD CUP WILLIE and a device consisting of a cartoon type lion dressed in the England football strip.
