The first claimant ("Loon") is a Canadian company involved in the international exploration and development of oil and gas resources. The second claimant ("Loon Brunei") is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Loon incorporated under the laws of Cyprus in June 2006 specifically for the purposes of the project in Brunei ("the Block L project") which is the subject of these proceedings.
