On 9 March 2007 Phillip Coates was convicted of rape at a Court-Martial held at HMS Nelson (His Honour Judge Blackett, Judge Advocate General). We adjourned our decision at the close of the hearing to examine the transcripts of the evidence of the complainant and the appellant. This is our judgment on his appeal against conviction heard on 13th June.
