This guidance is for medicines marketing authorisation holders. It gives them an overview of how to report medicines shortages to DHSC under the January 2019 regulations.

You should use the DHSC industry medicines reporting template when submitting this information.

The information that must be submitted was agreed with the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) and the British Generic Manufacturers Association (BGMA).

Both documents replace the best practice guidelines that were published in 2007.
