Guidance: Selective Schools Expansion Fund

Updated: Updated with details of the 2019 round of the SSEF.

This guidance is for academy trusts and local authorities.

It applies to academies and local-authority-maintained schools.

The Selective Schools Expansion Fund (SSEF) is available to selective schools that demonstrate how they’ll attract more disadvantaged pupils. We prefer they work with other schools in their area to raise standards more widely.

Read the guidance and complete the application form to apply for the SSEF for the 2019 to 2020 financial year.

The loan calculator is a tool to help schools work out their repayments.

Sixteen schools were successful in the first round of the SSEF. These schools committed to increase admissions of pupil premium children. Their plans are available at Selective Schools Expansion Fund: successful applications, 2018 to 2019.

Deadline for applications

The deadline for submitting applications is midday, 23 April 2019.
