Guidance: Project Delivery Capability Framework

Updated: New version of PCDF and summary video uploaded

The Project Delivery Capability Framework (PDCF) has been produced to support the capability development of all project delivery professionals in government.

It contains 3 main elements:

the ‘career pathways’ that sets out the job roles within the profession technical and behavioural competencies aligned to these roles a development section that enables our people to identify the right development for them.

This interactive document explains all aspects of the framework and enables project delivery professionals, and those interested in becoming project delivery professionals, to explore the different roles within the profession.

The Government Online Skills Tool is in the process of being rolled-out across departments. This can be used by project delivery professionals to evaluate their current skills and identify areas for development for both current and future roles that they aspire to.

The PDCF was developed by the IPA, as the home of the project delivery profession, and project delivery representatives from all the main government departments.

Published alongside the PCDF is the Project Delivery Functional Standard. The standard sets expectations for the direction and management of portfolios, programmes, and projects in government.
