Policy paper: Colne Valley viaduct specimen design

HS2 passes through a diverse and continuously changing landscape. Structures along the route must respond to this diversity, becoming harmonious, memorable and fitting additions to their sites.

This is particularly true for the Colne Valley Viaduct, which due to its scale, visibility and the sensitivity of its site, forms one of the most important structures along the route.

During the development of this Specimen Design the key principles of the HS2 Design Vision were followed alongside Open Route Structures Design Approach, Landscape Design Approach and Bridge Design Requirements documents for guidance.
