Guidance: Public Guardian practice note: Release of visitors' reports

Court of Protection visitors report independently to the Public Guardian and the Court of Protection. They help in the Public Guardian’s role of supervising deputies and investigating concerns about the actions of a deputy or attorney.

Depending on the circumstances, a report may be released:

to people a visitor has interviewed while preparing a report (at the Public Guardian’s discretion) to people or organisations included in a Public Guardian application to the court to the police or a local authority involved in an investigation after a request for personal information under the Data Protection Act (known as a subject access request) with the court’s permission, if it ordered the report
