Guidance: Rare and imported pathogens laboratory (RIPL): user manual

The Rare and Imported Pathogens Laboratory (RIPL) specialises in a wide range of unusual and hazardous viral and bacterial pathogens.

It provides medical and laboratory specialist services to the NHS and other healthcare providers, including:

imported fever Lyme borreliosis unusual or hazardous indigenous pathogens, such as Q fever and anthrax leptospirosis

RIPL provides an environmental detection service for investigation and identification of anthrax and other hazardous pathogens.

RIPL also provides PCR and IgM diagnostic service for the National leptospirosis service (NLS).
