Press release: Planned roadworks in the East Midlands: weekly summary for Monday 25 to Sunday 31 July 2016

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 22 July but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M1 junction 19, Swinford, Leicestershire: major project.

Work to improve journeys and reduce congestion continues this week. The southbound M1 between junctions 20 and 19, and the M6 southbound from junction 1 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 25 July for 2 nights.

In addition, the westbound A14 from junction 2 to the Catthorpe junction will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 25 July for 2 nights.

The northbound M1 between junctions 18 and 19 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 27 July for 2 nights.

The southbound M6 from junction 1 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 27 July. The westbound A14 westbound from junction 2 to Catthorpe junction and the A14 to M6 northbound link road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, on Friday 29 July.

The M1 to M6 northbound link road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Friday 29 July.

M1 junctions 19 to 16

Work to reduce congestion and improve journeys continues this week. 2 lanes on the southbound carriageway between junction 18 and junction 16 will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday 25 July for 5 nights.

In addition, 2 lanes on the northbound carriageway will be closed between junction 17 and 18 during the same period.

M1 junctions 28 South Normanton to 35a Chapeltown, Derbyshire / South Yorkshire: smart motorway improvement Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week multiple lane closures in place on both carriageways. In addition, the following slip roads will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, with clearly signed diversions.

Work to improve road user safety takes place this week. Lane closures will be in place overnight between 8pm and 6am, on Monday 25 July.

A42 junctions 12 Willesley to 13 Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire: vegetation clearance

Work to ensure road user safety by clearing vegetation take place this week. Lane 1 of both carriageways will be closed between 4am and 10.45am on Sunday 31 July.

A43 junction 15 (M1) to Ardley, Oxfordshire / Northamptonshire: vegetation clearance

Work to ensure road user safety by clearing vegetation starts this week. Mobile lane closures will be in place on both carriageways from Monday 25 July until mid-August.

A46 Newark on Trent, Nottinghamshire: bridge maintenance

Work to maintain journeys will take place this week. The northbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 25 July for 3 nights,
