Tech Nation’s leading growth programme for post-Series A startups has returned with its eleventh cohort
Upscale is the network for the UK’s most ambitious post-Series A founders. Built for the moment between Series A and Series B, it helps growth-stage tech companies – and their C-suite – tackle the challenges that come with scaling, and connects them with the investors, expertise and peers who’ve already navigated the path to Series B.
Since launching, Upscale has supported more than 300 companies, whose alumni have collectively raised over $9.6 billion. Some of the UK’s biggest startups have been a part of Upscale, including Depop, Monzo, Cleo and Improbable.
This year’s 25 companies span lung cancer treatment, plastic-free packaging, workplace wellbeing and virtual power plants. Between them they’ve raised £465.7m in equity funding and employ 1,352 people, with 5 headquartered outside London.
Across the cohort, 32% have at least one woman on the founding team, 44% have a Global Majority founder, and 40% have at least one immigrant founder.
Over three months, expert-led workshops tackle the problems that come with scale: growing operations without losing quality, building and leading bigger teams, moving into new markets, and handling greater financial complexity. Alongside the workshops, founders get peer-to-peer support and access to a deep network of entrepreneurs and industry leaders who’ve done it before.
