Message from the Judge Advocate General Judge Alan Large:“There are currently four AJAGs, two in Catterick and two in Bulford. We are looking for a full-time judge advocate in Bulford to support the team when one of the Bulford judges goes part time later this year. Judge advocates enjoy a unique blend of criminal and service justice, dealing with offending from rape (when ticketed) through to assisting the enemy. They have the same role as a circuit judge in court, with the exception of sentencing, when they pass sentence together with a Board. It is fascinating work. Judge advocates occasionally sit elsewhere, such as Catterick, Cyprus and Germany, but the Judge Advocate General takes account of their domestic circumstances when drawing up the annual sitting plan.”
