It has been brought to my attention that two written answers given to Lord Kamall contained inaccurate information related to the NHS Genomic Medicine Service.
The reply to written Parliamentary Questions HL12636 and HL12637, tabled by Lord Kamall 3 December 2025, stated that “The final service specification was published in Autumn 2025 following stakeholder feedback.” This is incorrect as the final service specification has not yet been published.
For clarity, the answer for HL12636 should read:
“The NHS Genomic Medicine Service’s (NHS GMS) draft service specification, published in July 2025, sets out future testing strategy, including a focus on improved turnaround times and requirements to deliver the Genomic Population Health Service, in line with the 10-Year Health Plan. The final service specification will be published ahead of April 2026 following stakeholder feedback. The new NHS GMS will be operational from April 2026 and will set out the new model up to 2036.”
While the answer for HL12637 should read:
“The NHS Genomic Medicine Service’s (NHS GMS) draft service specification, published in July 2025, sets out future testing strategy, including a focus on improved turnaround times and requirements to deliver the Genomic Population Health Service, in line with the 10-Year Health Plan. The final service specification will be published ahead of April 2026 following stakeholder feedback. The new NHS GMS will be operational from April 2026 and will set out the new model up to 2036.”
I would like to apologise.
