Call 999 coastguard if you are in trouble at sea

Five adults, two children and their dog had to be towed back to the beach this afternoon after their speedboat broke down near St Tidwalls. Although they had been broken down for three hours, they had not thought to call the coastguard and so had been stuck trying to call to other vessels for help. They had tried to call the beachguard on their mobile phone but had no response. They did not have vhf radio onboard the boat and only one of the children and none of the adults were wearing lifejackets.
