'...not to even contemplate allowing any progress on this, the most hair brained idea to reduce the status of Mayday University Hospital, a status which has been hard won and which the people of Croydon are justifiably proud, and further more to even consider closing Mayday's A & E would be an act bordering on madness exposing the people of the Croydon area to a nightmare traffic jam infested journey the result of which would simply be an increase in the death rate and the level of harm suffered by patients exposed to this ridiculously increased journey before treatment would be instituted' -- Mr.Patrick McDonogh
