Committee welcomes mori survey on ministerial public appointments

The Committee on Standards in Public Life welcomed today the publication of new research, produced by MORI for the Public Appointments Commissioner. This shows that in addition to a low level of public awareness about how the public appointments system operates, only one fifth of respondents had confidence in the system and that a "major downfall of the process, in the eyes of the public, is the final selection by the Minister who may not have been involved throughout the process".
