Guidance: Trade Bill factsheet: providing continuity and maintaining standards in UK trade agreements

The Trade Bill was introduced into the House of Commons on 7 November 2017 and is currently progressing through the House of Lords.

The Trade Bill does not cover future trade agreements but allows for the transition of trade agreements that currently exist between the EU and other countries. Transitioning these trade agreements will provide continuity for British business.

The government has been clear that we will not lower food, environmental or animal welfare standards as part of any free trade agreement.
