The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 17 March but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
M1 junction 28 to 35a, Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/Yorkshire: smart motorwayUntil winter 2017, there will be various restrictions in place on the M1 between junctions 28 and 35a to allow for the construction of the smart motorway. These include lane closures, speed restrictions, hard shoulder running and overnight slip road or carriageway closures.
On Monday 20 March, the southbound exit at junction 28, the northbound entry slip road at junction 30, the northbound exit slip road at junction 32, the southbound exit slip road at junction 33 and the southbound entry slip road at junction 34 will all be closed overnight from 8pm to 6am.
On Tuesday 21 March, the southbound exit slip road at junction 28, the southbound exit slip road at junction 28, the southbound entry slip road at junction 30, the southbound exit slip road at junction 29a, a full southbound carriageway closure between junctions 34 to 32, the southbound entry slip road at junction 34 and the southbound entry slip road at junction 33 will all be closed overnight from 8pm to 6am.
On Wednesday 22 March the southbound exit slip road at junction 28, the northbound carriageway will be fully closed from junction 32 to 34, the M18 southbound to M1 northbound link road will be closed and the northbound entry slip road at junction 33 will all be closed overnight from 8pm to 6am.
On Thursday 23 March the southbound exit slip road at junction 28, the southbound entry slip road at junction 29a and the southbound entry slip road at junction 35a will all be closed overnight form 8pm to 6am.
On Friday 24 March the southbound entry and exit slip road at Tibshelf motorway service areas and the southbound entry slip road at junction 35a will all be closed overnight from 8pm to 6am.
M1 junction 19 to 16, Northamptonshire: smart motorwayPlease note these closures will be in place from 9pm to 6am.
On Monday 20 March, the northbound carriageway will have two lanes closed between junctions 16 and 18 and the entry and exit slip road closed at Watford Gap motorway service areas will also be closed overnight. There will also be lane closures on the southbound carriageway, a full carriageway closure between junctions 18 to 16, the entry and exit slip road at junction 18, the M5 southbound carriageway, the entry and exit slip road at Watford Gap motorway service area and the entry and exit slip road at junctions 16 will all be closed overnight.
On Tuesday 21 March, the northbound entry and exit slip road at Watford Gap motorway service areas will be closed overnight. On the southbound carriageway, lanes two and three will be closed between junctions 19 and 18, there will be a full carriageway closure between junctions 18 and 16, the entry and exit slip road will be closed at junction 18, the M45 southbound will be closed, the entry and exit slip road at Watford Gap motorway services and the entry and exit slip road at junction 16 will all be closed overnight.
On Wednesday 22 March, the northbound carriageway will have two lanes closed between junctions 16 to 18 and the entry and exit slip road closed at Watford Gap motorway service areas closed. There will also be lane closures on the southbound carriageway, a full carriageway closure between junctions 18 to 16, the entry and exit slip road at junction 18, the M5 southbound carriageway, the entry and exit slip road at Watford Gap motorway service area and the entry and exit slip road at junctions 16 will all be closed overnight.
On Thursday 23 March, the northbound carriageway will have the entry and exit slip road closed at Watford Gap motorway service areas overnight. There will also be lane closures on the southbound carriageway, a full carriageway closure between junctions 18 and 16, two lanes closed between junctions 19 to 18, the entry and exit slip road at junction 18, the M45 southbound, the entry and exit slip road at Watford Gap motorway service area and the entry and exit slip road at junctions 16 will all be closed overnight.
On Friday 24 March, the northbound carriageway will have two lanes closed between junctions 16 to 18 and two lanes closed on the southbound carriageway between junctions 18 to 16 overnight.
On Saturday 25 March, the northbound carriageway will have two lanes closed between junctions 17 to 18, a full carriageway closure between junctions 18 to 19, the entry and exit slip road at junction 18 and the exit slip road at junction 19 will all be closed overnight.
On Sunday 26 March, the northbound carriageway will have two lanes closed between junctions 17 to 18, a full carriageway closure between junctions 18 to 19, the entry and exit slip road at junction 18 and the exit slip road at junction 19 will all be closed overnight.
