Press release: Public information exhibitions for shortlisted A5036 options

People living around the A5036 Port of Liverpool route in Merseyside are being reminded that public information exhibitions on shortlisted options for its replacement or improvement will get underway next week.

The route, north of Liverpool city centre, links the port to the motorway network via Switch Island. The improvement or replacement plan is designed to support expansion of the Port of Liverpool – boosting the local and regional economies.

A public consultation over the shortlisted options started on Monday (16 January) and will close on Monday 27 February – but local people can visit 1 of the 5 public information exhibitions before commenting.

Both ideas have been modified since public awareness exhibitions in the area last year.

Highways England project manager Carl Stockton said:

The public information exhibitions will give local people a chance to find out more about how previous feedback has helped us modify the potential options for improving this critical link between the motorway network and the port. Staff will also be on hand to chat to people or answer any questions.

A full options brochure including an electronic version the questionnaire is available on the scheme website. but people can also pick one up at one of the following public information exhibitions:

Tuesday 24 January – 11am to 5 pm - the Park Hotel, Dunnings Bridge Road, Netherton, L30 6YN Friday 27 January – 2pm to 8pm - St Faith’s Church Hall, Milton Road, Waterloo, L22 4RF Monday 30 January – 10am to 5pm, PlayFootball, Drummond Road, Crosby, L23 9YP Wednesday 1 February 2017 – 3pm to 8pm - Litherland Royal British Legion, Orrell Road, Litherland, L21 8NU Saturday 4 February 2017 – 11 am to 5pm - SING Plus Centre, Cambridge Road, Seaforth, L21 1EX
