News story: Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport appoints new Chair of the Big Lottery Fund’s Northern Ireland Committee

Dr Harrison has helped to shape community regeneration and social inclusion programmes in Northern Ireland for more than two decades. In a variety of policy, grant-making and advisory roles, she has worked with local and central government, independent funders and voluntary and community organisations to support social change.

Her grant-making experience includes the provision of funding and advice to VCSE led projects with the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland, the Special EU Programmes Body and the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust.

Dr Harrison previously served on the Big Lottery Fund’s Northern Ireland and UK Funding Committees and was a Director of the Building Change Trust, chairing the ‘Inspiring Impact’ advisory group. She is currently an advisor with the Strategic Investment Board.

Dr Harrison has been appointed for a term of four years, from the 1st of January 2017 until the 31st December 2020. The role is remunerated at £24,000 per annum. In this role she will lead the Committee in making all funding decisions for the Big Lottery Fund in Northern Ireland. She will also sit on the Big Lottery Fund UK Board, representing Northern Ireland interests and priorities.

The appointment has been made in accordance with the OCPA Code of Practice. It is a requirement of the Code that political activity by those appointed is declared. Dr Harrison has declared no such political activity.
