Press release: Public information exhibitions for new M56 junction options

People living near Runcorn in Cheshire are being reminded that public information exhibitions on options for a new motorway junction along the M56 will get underway next week.

A new junction – junction 11a – is being proposed by Highways England to provide a smoother link between the motorway and the new Mersey Gateway bridge which is due to open in the autumn.

A public consultation over the shortlisted options started on Monday (16 January) and will close on Monday 27 February – and local people can visit 1 of the 4 public information exhibitions before commenting.

Both ideas have been modified since similar public awareness exhibitions in the area last year.

Highways England project manager Tristram Bardrick said:

The public information exhibitions will give people a chance to find out more about how previous feedback has helped us modify the potential options for this important link between the new bridge and the motorway. Staff will also be on hand to chat to people or answer any questions.

A full options brochure including an electronic version of the questionnaire is available on the scheme website. but brochures will also be available at the public information exhibitions.

Monday 23rd January - 3pm to 8pm - Murdishaw Community Centre, Barnfield Ave, Runcorn, WA7 6EP Saturday 28th January - 10am to 4pm - Preston Brook Village Hall, Sandy Lane, Preston Brook, Runcorn, WA7 3AW Tuesday 31st January – 10.30am to 1.30pm - Halton General Hospital, Hospital Way, Runcorn, WA7 2DA Wednesday 1st February - 4pm to 8pm - Holiday Inn Runcorn, Wood Lane, Beechwood, WA7 3HA
