Press release: Planned roadworks in Central Southern England: weekly summary for Tuesday 31 May to Sunday 05 June 2016

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 27 May but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

M3 junctions 2 (M25) to 4a Farnborough, Hampshire: Smart motorway improvement

Work to reduce congestion and improve journey times continues this week with narrow lanes, a contraflow and a 50mph speed limit in place on both carriageways between junctions 2 and 4a, with a free recovery service operating 24 hours a day until the end of 2016.

The southbound exit slip road at junction 3 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 31 May for 3 nights and between 8pm and 7am on Friday 3 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via junction 4 and return.

The southbound carriageway between junctions 4 and 4a including the junction 4 entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 5.30am, from Tuesday 31 May for 3 nights and between 8pm and 7am Friday 3 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A331, A30 and A327.

The northbound entry slip road at junction 4 will be closed, between 8pm on Friday 3 June and 5.30am on Monday 6 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A30 to junction 3.

M3 junction 14 Chilworth, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings along the M3 continues this week. The southbound link from the M3 to the M27 eastbound carriageway will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday 1 June for three nights. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via M27 junction 3.

M4 junctions 5 Slough to 7 Maidenhead, Berkshire: drainage and verge survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage and verge surveys continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the autumn (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junctions 8/9 Maidenhead to 11 Reading / Wokingham, Berkshire: drainage and verge survey

Work to maintain safety by carrying out drainage and verge surveys continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the autumn (Monday to Friday only).

M4 junction 12 Reading, Berkshire: A4/Ikea resurfacing

Work to resurface the A4 and the junction 12 roundabout as part of the Ikea development continues this week. All slip roads at the junction will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am, until Friday 10 June (Monday to Friday only). Clearly signed diversions will be in place via junctions 11 (Reading) and 13 (Chieveley).

M27 junctions 9 Whiteley to 11 Portsmouth, Hampshire: barrier repair and road marking

Work to improve safety by carrying out repairs to the central reserve barrier completes this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 3 June.

M275 Portsmouth, Hampshire: road marking

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings takes place this week. The eastbound link from the M27 to the M275 southbound, including the eastbound entry slip road at M27 junction 12, will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Friday 3 June for three nights (Monday to Friday only). Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the A2030 Eastern Road roundabout and M27 junction 11.

A3 Ham Barn Roundabout, Hampshire to Hindhead Tunnel, Surrey: drainage and signs

Work to improve safety by maintaining the drainage and repairing signage along the A3 takes place this week. Lane one of the southbound carriageway will be closed at various locations overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 31 May for four nights.

A27 Langstone, Hampshire: vegetation

Work to improve safety by removing overgrown vegetation will take place this week. The westbound exit slip road at the junction will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Tuesday 31 May. A clearly signed diversion route will be in place via the Bedhampton junction.

A31 Ashley Heath to Palmersford, Dorset: vegetation

Work to improve safety by removing overgrown vegetation will take place this week. Lane one of both carriageways will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 31 May for two nights.

A31 Sturminster Marshall to Bere Regis, Dorset: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the A31 takes place this week. The A31 in both directions between A350 Roundhouse Roundabout and the Bere Regis Roundabout will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Thursday 2 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A350 and A35.

A34 Chilton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by constructing new slip roads and improving the layout of the Chilton interchange continues this week. The northbound exit slip road will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until the end of June (Monday to Friday only). A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Milton Interchange. Work is due to be completed in summer 2016.

A34 Milton interchange, Oxfordshire: junction improvement

Work to improve journey times and safety by improving the layout of the Milton interchange continues this week. Lane closures will be in place on both carriageways and the slip roads at the junction overnight, between 9pm and 6am, until Friday 10 June (Monday to Friday only).

A303 Parkhouse Cross, Wiltshire: resurfacing

Work to improve road user’s journeys by resurfacing the westbound exit slip road at the junction takes place this week. The westbound exit slip road will be fully closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Wednesday 1 June. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the Amesbury Roundabout.
