The prestigious equestrian event attracts the world’s premier 3 day eventers to the Duke of Beaufort’s Badminton House grounds in South Gloucestershire.
Cross country day at Badminton attracts crowds of up to 250,000 and Highways England is reminding motorists travelling to the event to plan their journeys.
Gareth Price, Highways England emergency planning officer for the south west, said:
We’re reminding road users to plan ahead for the Badminton Horse Trials. Junction 18 of the M4 near Tormarton is likely to be very busy on these days, particularly Saturday, 7 May.
Our aim is to keep the Highways England network running, specifically the M4 and A46 to the south of junction 18, whilst keeping road users safe and informed. We advise drivers to check our traffic and travel information channels, set off early and allow plenty of time.
Drivers should be aware that gates open tomorrow, Wednesday, 4 May, with competition focussing on dressage on the Thursday and Friday, cross country on the Saturday and showjumping on Sunday, with prizes and trophies being presented this year by HRH Duchess of Cornwall.
