The Salisbury Plain Training Area (SPTA) newsletter provides news and updates about current and planned activities concerning training and access on the plain.

Paths Improvement Grant Scheme 2014

The Paths Improvement Grants Scheme (PIGS) aims to help people make innovative improvements to countryside access and the rights of way network in their area. The scheme is a partnership between Wiltshire Council’s Rights of Way and Countryside section and the Wiltshire and Swindon Countryside Access Forum. Parishes can bid for up to 50% match funding, if their proposal is approved they then undertake the schemes themselves.

Schemes funded in previous years include:

improvements to the existing rights of way network such as surface improvements and replacing stiles with gates creating new rights of way or permissive links to avoid busy roads or provide new routes destination signing materials for promoting countryside access

Initial bids should be received by Friday 30 May. The final deadline for completed bids is Friday 25 July 2014. For further information see www.wiltshirelaf.org.uk.
