Open consultation: Support for non-domestic electricity consumers on Shetland

Domestic and non-domestic consumers on Shetland are currently protected from the high costs of electricity supply resulting from the isolated nature of Shetland’s electricity infrastructure. DECC set out its position on domestic consumers in 2013 following a review of the Common Tariff Obligation. It concluded that domestic consumers in northern Scotland (including Shetland) should continue to be supported. DECC is now undertaking a public consultation to consider the best way of continuing support for non-domestic consumers on Shetland. DECC’s intervention would provide long-term regulatory certainty for non-domestic consumers on Shetland.

This consultation seeks views on the proposed policy.
