Hurricane rita: advice for british nationals

Hurricane Rita, a Category 5 hurricane (wind speeds greater than 155 mph), is moving west, north-west across the Gulf of Mexico. US authorities are preparing for its impact. The exact point at which it will make landfall is uncertain but the Texas coast is the most likely area. It is forecasted to reach land in the early hours of Saturday morning local time.
