- The provisional number of deaths registered in England and Wales in the week ending 14/09/2012 (week 37) was 8,641. This represents a decrease of 207 deaths registered in comparison with the previous week (week 36)
- The average number of deaths for the corresponding week over the previous five years was 8,670
- Moveable public holidays, when register offices are closed, affect the number of registrations made in the published weeks and in the corresponding weeks in previous years

There is the same value for the 'under 1 year' age group and '15-44' age group on consecutive weeks. However these counts are made up of unique death registrations

Weekly death figures provide provisional counts of the number of deaths registered in England and Wales in the latest eight weeks for which data are available. Commentary on trends in annual mortality statistics can be found in Death registrations summary tables.
